Emerged breakwater project to protect the coastal area of
Lido Tre Archi - Casabianca (Fermo)

The project, constructed in 2017, includes five new emerged breakwaters to protect the Lido Tre Archi coastline and a beach nourishment. The area had been the subject by proetection works in the years 1984-85 with the construction of a perched beach now completely eroded, with only the threshold that protected its foot left. The southern part of this stretch of beach is also protected by a revetment.

The project was subject to an EIA screening procedure, for which a preliminary environmental study was prepared.
The following topics have been analysed in the study:

Description of the project and its main features;

Analysis of the actual state of the environmental components involved;

Evaluation of expected impacts during construction and operation.
The screening procedure ended with the exclusion of the project by a the full Environmental Impact Assessment procedure.
To support the design, a meteoromarine and numerical modeling study was also carried out including the analysis of the wave and current field and coastal sediment transport with and without the new structures.
